Always-on hosting vs. serverless
Serverless platforms are great until you need a WebSocket, a background queue, an in-memory cache or simply predictable latency. An always-on process has no cold starts, holds connections open, and can run cron jobs in-process. A full stack on the free tier
A typical setup: your Node.js or Python API as one server, Postgres as a second, and Uptime Kuma watching both. Upgrade to Plus and the extra server slots and quota let you add Redis for sessions, MinIO for uploads, or a staging copy of the whole stack. Because each piece is its own server with its own resources, a runaway worker can't starve your database.
Deploying your code
Pick a runtime egg, point it at your Git repository or upload files via SFTP or the web manager, set your environment variables in the panel, and start. The console streams logs live, restarts are one click or one scheduled task away, and automatic backups protect your data directory. When you outgrow a single process, clone the server and put both behind a load balancer or DNS round-robin.
