Running a Velocity server

Minimum RAM on Enzonic: 1 GB

Configuration

  • velocity.toml: listen address, backend servers, forwarding mode
  • forwarding.secret: shared secret for modern forwarding

Good to know

  • Velocity is a proxy: players join it, and it sends them to your backend servers.
  • Use modern forwarding. On Paper backends, enable the Velocity section in config/paper-global.yml with the same secret, and set online-mode=false in each backend's server.properties.
  • Backends shouldn't be reachable directly from the internet, or players could bypass the proxy's authentication.
