Running a Rust server

Configuration

  • server/<identity>/cfg/server.cfg: hostname, description, max players, world size and seed
  • oxide/ or carbon/: plugin frameworks, if installed

Good to know

  • Facepunch releases a forced wipe on the first Thursday of each month, when map and usually blueprint data reset after the update.
  • World size and seed decide the map. Larger maps need more RAM and take longer to generate on first start.
  • Plugins need a framework such as Oxide (uMod) or Carbon.
