Configuration

  • server.properties: world, game mode, difficulty, view distance
  • bukkit.yml and spigot.yml: Bukkit and Spigot settings Paper inherits
  • config/paper-global.yml and config/paper-world-defaults.yml: Paper's own performance and gameplay options

Good to know

  • Paper is a fork of Spigot with performance and stability patches. It runs Bukkit, Spigot and Paper plugins from the plugins folder.
  • Paper does not load Forge or Fabric mods. For mods, pick a Fabric, Forge or NeoForge server instead.
  • Lowering simulation-distance in server.properties is the quickest way to cut CPU load on a busy server.
